K. Ranga Rama Krishnan, MB, ChB

Dr. K. Ranga Rama Krishnan is a distinguished member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Psychopharmacology Bulletin and currently serves as Executive Vice Chairman and Senior Advisor of Rush University System for Health in Chicago. His distinguished international career spans academic medicine, healthcare administration, and groundbreaking research in psychiatry and neuroscience.

Executive Experience

Dr. Krishnan previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Rush University System for Health from 2019 to 2022 and as Dean of Rush Medical College from 2015 to 2019. From 2008 to 2015, he served as Dean of Duke-NUS Medical School, a joint venture between Duke University and the National University of Singapore, where he played a pivotal role in establishing this innovative international medical education partnership.

Research Excellence

An internationally recognized authority on neuroimaging in psychiatric disorders, Dr. Krishnan has published over 500 research papers and numerous books, with particular expertise in late-life depression, bipolar disorder, and dementia. His groundbreaking work established the critical relationship between vascular disease and depression, fundamentally changing our understanding of mood disorders in older adults. He holds multiple patents in areas of dementia, depression, and brain-computer interface technology.

International Recognition

Dr. Krishnan has received the highest honors from the government of Singapore, including Honorary Citizenship (the highest honor conferred to non-citizens), the President’s Science and Technology Award, and the Public Service Medal. He currently chairs the National Health Innovation Center, National Medical Research Council, and ALSET Institute at the National University of Singapore. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and serves on the Board of Directors of Community Health Systems.
